Message from the Family and Friends:

Death is part of the natural evolution of life but it does not lessen the pain felt by loved ones in the loss of a family member or friend. Important people and pieces of our lives are no longer there. The pain lessens over time but never goes away. Although the memories and presence of our loved ones stay with us, it is up to those connected spiritually and emotionally to the individual to keep the memories alive and celebrated with others.

Kurt Patrick Murnen was born on May 19, 1979, and after a two year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma passed away on March 4, 1999. Kurt was funny, charismatic, and loving; taken from us far too soon. He is dearly missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him. Kurt made a dramatic impact on those he encountered. We watched him battle cancer with courage and determination all while staying true to himself. Unfortunately, Kurt is not able to see the widespread impact and importance his legacy has on our lives.

It is for this purpose and with his memories in our hearts; the family and friends of Kurt started FC44 Foundation, Inc. in June of 2014. Our mission perpetuates Kurt’s memory; not only for his friends and family but also for the generations who will never know him. With his inspiration, we continue to fight the disease which took his life. “FC” stands for Fight Cancer and 44 represents Kurt’s jersey number as a three-year varsity member of the boys basketball team at Archbishop Alter High School. This is a number we remember, revere, and celebrate.

In Kurt’s memory,

FC44 Foundation, Inc. – the family and friends of Kurt Patrick Murnen
